let's talk.

Is your law firm missing from the map pack, the ads or the AI answers?

A search for a family lawyer in Dartmouth or a wills lawyer in Bedford can return a map pack, paid ads and an AI summary before the first ordinary result. A firm listed in only one of those places is easy to miss.

Most agencies still sell one of those placements on its own and leave the other two to chance.

The Gap Between Channels Nobody Owns

Separate vendors each look after one corner:

  • SEO firms watch rankings.
  • Ad managers watch clicks.
  • Social teams watch likes.

Each one can report a good month while the phones at the firm stay quiet.

Firms caught in that setup often:

  • Pay several vendors with no single plan.
  • Take calls on matters the firm does not handle.
  • Rely on referrals to keep the year steady.

A Single Plan Behind Every Search Channel

We don’t offer separate contracts.
We build one client acquisition program around your firm’s practice areas.
And we measure success by retained files, not just traffic.

Our approach is designed to position your firm wherever potential clients are searching for legal services, across:

  • Google Search & Maps → Get found from the Halifax Peninsula to Sackville.
  • AI Search (ChatGPT, Ai Overview etc) → Be the firm AI assistants recommend.
  • Paid Advertising (Google & Meta) → Generate leads for the practice areas you want to grow.
  • Social Platforms (Reddit, Quora) → Build credibility that paid ads cannot.

The Practical Return for Your Firm

Instead of managing separate marketing channels…
you get one coordinated strategy focused on qualified leads.

  • Visibility across Search, Maps, and AI.
  • Smarter marketing budgets.
  • Leads matched to your practice areas.
  • Steadier lead flow year-round.

Just Ask Our Clients

The internet is fragmented. Your potential clients are spread across Google, ChatGPT, and social media — if you only invest in one channel, you’ll never get the volume you need to grow.

SEO, local search, Google Ads and AI visibility share one budget and one calendar, so each channel supports the others instead of competing for the same dollars.

  • reporting you can check

Every call and form is traced to its source, and the monthly report shows retained files next to spend, line by line.

  • no fixed term

There is no long-term contract. Firms stay with dNOVO Group because inquiries keep arriving, and they can leave if that stops.

  • no rival firms on our list

We do not take on a direct competitor in your practice area and market, so the strategy built for your firm stays with your firm.

Isolated tactics rarely grow a law practice. What does is search, Google Maps, paid campaigns, AI answers, reviews and reporting managed together. Our team plans the work, carries it out from start to finish, and shows the partners what each part of the budget returned, month by month.

SEO Supported Websites Designed to Inspire – Marketing Your Law Firm in Vancouver

The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society sets the rules for lawyer marketing in Halifax, and its Code of Professional Conduct places specific restrictions on how lawyers advertise their services. Rule 4.2-1 requires every ad, page and profile to be “demonstrably true, accurate and verifiable”. Rule 4.3-1 generally prohibits the words specialist, specializing, expert and expertise, and their synonyms, with limited exceptions for certain interjurisdictional advertising.

Rule areaNova ScotiaOntarioAlberta
Calling a lawyer a specialist or expertGenerally not allowed, with limited exceptionsAllowed only for Law Society Certified Specialists, with limited interjurisdictional exceptionsGenerally prohibited, as Alberta has no certification program
Awards, rankings and “best” claimsSuggesting a lawyer is better than others may breach the CodeAwards and rankings must be genuine and not misleading, including paid recognitionSuperiority claims are prohibited; awards and rankings must be verifiable
Contingency feesAgreement must be in writing and tell the client they can seek a reviewA firm that markets contingency fees must publish its maximum percentage on its websiteNo general rule on publishing a maximum online
Referral feesAllowed if reasonable, disclosed and agreed to by the clientCapped at 15% of the first $50,000 in fees and 5% after that, up to $25,000Allowed if reasonable and agreed, with no fixed cap

We plan every Halifax campaign around Nova Scotia’s advertising requirements. For firms operating across multiple provinces, we tailor each location’s marketing content to the rules of its jurisdiction.

Google Maps Rankings Across HRM, From the Peninsula to Sackville

Google ranks map results on relevance, distance and prominence, according to its own guide to local rankings. Distance is the one factor a law firm can’t change, so an office near the Law Courts on Upper Water Street won’t automatically show up for a search in Lower Sackville, Bedford or Cole Harbour. Local SEO can improve relevance and prominence, helping firms compete beyond their immediate neighbourhood.

The competition is concentrated here. The Barristers’ Society’s 2025 Statistical Snapshot reports 1,598 practising lawyers in Halifax Regional Municipality, representing 70.4% of the 2,271 lawyers in its geographic breakdown. HRM took in the former cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, the Town of Bedford and Halifax County in 1996. Our Google Maps optimization work covers three things:

  • Google Business Profile: current categories, services, hours and photos, one profile per staffed office, and never a virtual address.
  • Community pages: a page for each community the firm serves, such as Dartmouth, Bedford, Clayton Park or Timberlea, written about the work offered there.
  • Citations: the same name, address and phone number on every directory and profile.

Our own office at 6156 Quinpool Road follows the same rules, and our lawyer SEO work builds the organic rankings under the map pack.

Ad Budgets Follow What a Nova Scotia Claim Is Worth

Google Ads pay off for a Halifax law firm when the budget follows what each matter is worth, and Nova Scotia law limits several of those values. Search engine marketing that ignores them buys clicks the firm can’t turn into fees.

  • Minor injury cap: for 2026, the Superintendent of Insurance set the cap on pain-and-suffering damages for a minor motor vehicle injury at $10,862. We build personal injury campaigns around the matters a firm handles, including injuries the cap may not limit.
  • Workplace injuries: benefits from the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia generally replace the right to sue a covered employer, although third-party claims and exceptions may apply. We distinguish these matters when qualifying leads.
  • Small claims: the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia hears most types of claims up to $25,000, and parties there don’t need a lawyer, so we weigh bids on low-value disputes against the fee the matter can carry.

Meta advertising on Facebook and Instagram complements search engine marketing. It reaches people before they search and brings back visitors who left a practice area page without calling. Every campaign runs with call and conversion tracking tied to the firm’s intake, and our Google Ads for lawyers service reports spend against retained files, not clicks.

AI Search Optimization That Gets a Firm Named in the Answer

AI search optimization, also called generative engine optimization, aims to improve a law firm’s visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and similar tools. These systems draw on different sources, so keeping hours, addresses and practice areas consistent across a firm’s website, Google Business Profile and directories helps present a clearer, more reliable picture of the firm.

For Halifax law firms, our team:

  1. keeps one version of the firm’s name, address, phone number, lawyers and practice areas everywhere it appears;
  2. writes lawyer pages that state each lawyer’s call to the Nova Scotia bar, the practice areas and the experience behind them;
  3. puts a direct answer at the top of every practice area page, followed by the Nova Scotia detail;
  4. tracks which prompts name the firm and which firms appear in its place.

This work builds on search engine optimization rather than replacing it, and our AI search optimization runs alongside the SEO as one project.

Websites and Articles Built on Nova Scotia Law

A law firm website sits at the centre of its digital presence, and in Nova Scotia it has to turn visitors into consultations while staying inside the Code. Website production starts with the practice areas that pay, and conversion optimization continues after launch: click-to-call on mobile, a short form, one clear next step on every page, and fast load times on a phone.

Content marketing then fills those pages with Nova Scotia law rather than borrowed Ontario copy. Major civil and family cases go to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, not a “Superior Court”. Many civil claims are subject to a two-year limitation period from discovery, although exceptions apply under the Limitation of Actions Act. A contingency fee agreement must be in writing and tell the client they can have it reviewed, under Civil Procedure Rule 77.14. Details like these show readers and AI tools alike that the firm wrote its own pages.

Every site from our website design for law firms service launches with the tracking and page structure the SEO and paid campaigns need.

Seven Practice Areas, Each With Its Own Nova Scotia Detail

Each practice area we market gets its own landing page, articles and ad group, because the client’s first question and the local answer change from one area to the next.

Practice areaQuestion the page answers firstNova Scotia detail the page has to get right
Personal injuryIs the claim worth pursuing? The minor injury cap and applicable limitation periods
Family and divorceWhere will the case be heard?Family matters in HRM go to the Supreme Court (Family Division) on Devonshire Avenue
Criminal defenceWhat happens after a charge? Most criminal jury trials in the region now take place at the Dartmouth courthouse on Mellor Avenue
EmploymentIs there a claim, and where does it go?Whether the matter belongs with a court, a tribunal or the WCB
ImmigrationHow long will the process take?Immigration is federal, so the page separates national rules from the firm’s local service
Bankruptcy and insolvencyWhat happens to a home and wages? The Law Courts on Upper Water Street hear insolvency matters
Wills and estatesWhat does probate involve? The process through the Probate Court of Nova Scotia

That split lets a firm move budget toward the work it wants more of, such as estates files over small disputes, and see in the monthly report whether the shift produced retained files.

Reputation That Holds Up Online and on Camera

Reputation management for lawyers in Nova Scotia starts with confidentiality. Rule 3.3-1 requires a lawyer to keep everything about a client’s affairs in strict confidence, and that includes a reply to an online review. We write replies that never confirm the person was a client, invite clients to leave genuine reviews without pressuring them or selectively requesting positive feedback, and report reviews that break Google’s policies.

Social media marketing and video marketing work best as proof of knowledge. Our film crew produces short videos with the lawyer, each answering one question with Nova Scotia law and captioned for LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. Community management, the day-to-day side of social media marketing, keeps comment replies within the same confidentiality limits. Public relations work, such as commentary in local news or talks at Canadian Bar Association Nova Scotia Branch events, builds standing in the Canadian legal community and supports business development for the partners.

Every Dollar Reported Next to the Files It Produced

Transparent reporting shows the partners what each channel cost and what it produced. We compare lead generation figures with the firm’s intake and retained files, so partners can distinguish inquiries from signed matters.

ChannelWhat we trackWhat the partners see each month
Google Search and MapsRankings, profile calls, form fillsInquiries by practice area and community

Our Base for Law Firms Across Atlantic Canada

Marketing for Canadian law firms is the core of our work. dNOVO Group has offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, and Halifax is our base for Atlantic Canada, with a local team that knows the Nova Scotia Code and the same campaign staff our clients use across Canada.

Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador each have their own law society and code. The National Mobility Agreement lets a lawyer who meets its conditions provide legal services in another common law province for up to 100 days within a 12-month period, but each office page still follows its own province’s rules, so we write and track every office separately.

To talk about marketing for your firm, contact our Halifax office at 902-510-3180 or book a free consultation. The Society’s guidance on websites and social media warns that web developers and marketers “will not be familiar with our Nova Scotia Code”. dNOVO Group works with law firms in several provinces, so our team knows where each one draws its lines:
